The Hottest New Event in Washington, DC Is Back

A one-of-a-kind bipartisan, intergenerational gathering of multicultural media influencers to celebrate excellence in new and traditional media.

Washington, DC (April 4, 2017) — Save the Date for the 2nd Annual Multicultural Media Correspondents Dinner MMCD™ held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Last years’ honorees included actor Jamie Foxx, Richard Lui from MSNBC, Victor Shiblie Publisher The Washington Diplomat, Cenk Uygur from The Young Turks, Armstrong Williams, owner Howard Stirk Holdings, and a host of trailblazing multicultural media correspondents. The guests were a mix of conservatives and liberals, young and old, celebrating multicultural media luminaries and enjoying a hilarious political roast.

Last year’s red carpet host Roland Martin, of TV One, greeted the star-studded crowd upon their arrival. In conversation, former ABC News Correspondent Carolyn Sawyer shared with Martin, “This evening joins the prestigious list of DC must-attend events. Bravo to the organizers for embracing excellence.” Similarly, T-Mobile Government Affairs Executive Marie Sylla-Dixon said “Last year’s event was like no other in DC in which media diversity is celebrated — it was truly refreshing. The honorees are true trailblazers in the media field, and their stories are inspiring to all. It’s a must-attend event!”

Happening on Thursday, May 25th at the National Press Club in Washington, DCthis year’s event, hosted by actor/comedian/writer, Chris Spencer, features performances by top comedians while honoring a host of noted traditional and new media contributors, journalists, producers. The gala provides a beacon during one of the most turbulent times in news media history. A sneak peak of the 2017 awardees include Media Owner of The Year, Robert Rodriguez; Broadcast Journalist Honoree, Juan Williams from Fox News; Radio Journalist Honoree, Joe Madison from Sirius XM Radio; and Print Journalist Honoree, Helen Zia formerly editor of Ms. Magazine; along with Congressional Media Advocate Award Recipient, The Honorable Tony Cardenas. The full list of the 2017 awardees will be announced May 15th.
